Track and field: Dominguez boys go even faster this week in 1,600 relay

Dominguez easily won the boys’ 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:11.50 at the Southern Section-Toyota Masters meet Friday at Cerritos College. That time is actually faster than the one it ran last week in the Southern Section finals at Mt. San Antonio College.

The group of Kivon Grant, Manoah Wesson, Leon Dillihunt and Aaron Hestor ran 3:11.87 last week and broke a 23-year-old Division I record.

They are still a fraction more than four seconds off the national record of 3:07.40 set by Hawthorne in 1985.

Long Beach Poly was second in 3:15.80.
