The fourth is fantastic.

“This never gets old -- never gets old,” said Oaks Christian senior Dominic Denham just after the Lions won their fourth consecutive division title, beating Oak Park in four games in the Southern Section-Toyota Division IV finals Saturday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

After losing to the Eagles twice during Tri-Valley League play this season, the Lions were able to snuff out late comebacks in the two final games to claim the crown. “They beat us two times already -- we couldn’t let it happen again,’ said Blake Fol, who led Oaks Christian with 18 kills. Oak Park trailed, 18-13, in the third game, then rallied to post a tie at 24, only to lose, 27-25.

The Eagles, who were trailing by six in the fourth game, came within one at 24-23.

“It all comes down to one or two little things,” said Oak Park Coach Patrick Quinn. “We weren’t able to execute the offense the way we wanted in the end.”
