It’s a beautiful day out in Westwood, but I’m glad I didn’t have to walk close to half a mile to get to this afternoon’s City Section Invitational championship contest between Crenshaw and Lincoln.

Fans (and even the media) had to shell out $8 and park so far away from Easton Stadium I could have sworn I was in Bel Air. Luckily, a posh and new-car smelling shuttle van saved my feet and gave me an air-conditioned ride to the front steps of the stadium.

Of course, I’m glad the shuttle was there, otherwise, I would have missed the start of what has been a very entertaining contest. Thanks, primarily, to four Crenshaw errors, Lincoln leads the Cougars, 4-1, heading into the sixth inning.

Jenny Ly and Amber Cabada scored each of the Tigers’ runs in the bottom of the first after Crenshaw’s Brittnei Price dropped a fly ball that would have ended the inning. The Tigers tacked on a couple more runs in the sixth when Adriana Oliden scored from third on a sacrifice bunt by Vivan Topete and a run-scoring single by Ly.

Price scored Crenshaw’s lone run in the third on a Lincoln fielding error.

And that’s Lincoln’s Belen Benitez in the photo.
