The best second baseman in Sherman Oaks Notre Dame history was Brendan Ryan, a 2000 graduate who plays for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Knights have another Ryan playing second, Casey Ryan, and what a defensive player he is.

It was Ryan’s stop of a ground ball, while on his knees Thursday in the top of the sixth inning, that prevented the tying run from scoring and kept the Knights ahead of South Hills, 3-2, in the Southern Section-Toyota Division III championship game at Dodger Stadium.

Casey Ryan, a junior, also has two hits on the day. Brendan Ryan (no relation) would, no doubt, be proud.
