I don’t claim to know much, but one thing I’m certain of is, Avalon can’t afford to make any more mistakes in Thursday’s Southern Section-Toyota Division VII semifinal against Viewpoint at Millikan High in Long Beach. The Lancers already trail, 5-0, heading into the third inning. Time is running out.

The Patriots sent 10 batters to the plate and scored four runs in the second inning, thanks in part to two walks, two errors, two wild pitches and three hits. Jordan Kaplan and Michael Cameron each had an RBI single and it could have been much worse, but Viewpoint left the bases loaded.
