Sherman Oaks Notre Dame’s Hayden Hunter led off with a single against South Hills’ Derek Klena but nothing materialized after. Hunter was forced out at second on Ranny Lowe’s ground ball. Lowe then was promptly thrown out stealing and David Armendariz struck out.
Klena has pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Notre Dame’s Nik Rodarte followed up Klena’s speedy inning with one of his own -- a one-two-three top of the third.
So, heading into the bottom of the third, South Hills still leads, 2-0, in the Southern Section-Toyota Division III final Thursday at Dodger Stadium.
