Baseball: Tylers battle with Redlands East Valley and El Toro

That was some way to end the top of the first inning.

Redlands East Valley’s Ryne Sutherland showcased some nifty glove-work with a diving stop and perfect throw to first to keep El Toro’s Dillon Penprase from scoring in the Southern Section-Toyota Division II final Thursday at Dodger Stadium.

The pitching matchup is a battle of Tylers: Redland East Valley’s Tyler Chatwood (9-0, 87 strikeouts in 46 1/3 innings) vs. El Toro’s Tyler Zeigler (5-2, 2.44 ERA).

Zeigler gave up a walk and hit but escaped the bottom of the first unscathed.

The score is 0-0 heading into the second.
