I am happy to relate the latest news about Gregory Abbott, the history teacher and cross-country and track coach at Sunny Hills who was jailed this week when police -- acting on a tip -- found a shotgun and marijuana in his car in the school parking lot. Turns out, he was the ‘victim of an elaborate setup,’ police said Thursday.

Investigators are now convinced that Abbott, 31, is innocent and was actually a victim, said Sgt. Mike MacDonald of the Fullerton Police Department.

That’s great news for Abbott, his family, his co-workers, students and the athletes he oversees.
