Riverside Christian won their second title in school history by beating Calvary Murrieta, 2-1, in the Southern Section-Toyota Division VI championship game at Barber Park in Irvine Friday afternoon. It’s the first of three championship games on the day.

Cougars pitcher Asia Alvarez was without a doubt the player of the game. The sophomore, who retired the first 11 batters she faced, finished the game with six strikeouts and scattering only four hits as she improved her record to 16-0.

For Riverside Christian, the top seed in the division, this is a bit of revenge as they had lost to Calvary Murrieta, the No. 2 seed, in the championship game last season.
