The biggest sigh of relief Saturday at UC Riverside probably belonged to T.J. Lucio, third baseman for San Jacinto, which defeated Maranatha, 4-3, in eight innings to win the Southern Section-Toyota Division VI baseball championship.

Lucio committed four errors that played a part in the two runs Maranatha scored to force extra innings. After the Minutemen took a 3-2 in the eighth inning, Lucio came up in the bottom of the inning with a chance to drive in the winning run. And he delivered, allowing the Tigers to repeat as division champions.

And maybe years from now, Lucio will tell the story to his friends, children and their grandchildren about the time he drove in the winning run in a championship baseball game.
