Baseball: Another three local players tabbed by teams in Round 17

Frank Pfister from Emory University in Georgia by way of Harvard-Westlake, was selected by the Cincinnati Reds Friday with the 509th pick overall in the 17th round of Major League Baseball’s first-year player draft. Pfister, a philosophy major, is a third basemen.

Rob Waite, a right-handed pitcher from UC Riverside, by way of the Central Valley, was taken 523rd by the Detroit Tigers, and Ryan Babineau, a catcher at UCLA who graduated from Etiwanda High, was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks with pick No. 528.
