Christopher Joyce, a Dos Pueblos High left-handed pitcher, was selected by the Dodgers with pick No. 307 Friday in Major League Baseball’s first-year player draft. Making the pick for the boys in blue was none other than Tommy Lasorda, who’s been announcing all of the Dodgers’ second-day selections.

Tom Milone, a left-handed pitcher from USC by way of Saugus High, was selected by the Washington Nationals with pick No. 301, and Brian Valenzuela, left-handed pitcher from Vista Murrieta, was taken 314th by the New York Mets.

Peter Ruiz, a right-handed pitcher from Santa Barbara City College who’s originally from Northern California, was selected by the Boston Red Sox with pick No. 322.

If I’ve missed any of our local players who have been drafted out of college, let me know!
