Baseball: Round 11 draft picks include a Titan pitcher

Devin Shepherd, a graduate of Oxnard High and an outfielder with the College of Southern Nevada, was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals with pick No. 335 Friday morning in the 11th round of the Major League Baseball first-year player draft.

Jeff Kaplan, a right-handed pitcher for Cal State Fullerton by way of Dana Hills High and Irvine Valley College, was chosen by the New York Mets with the draft’s 344th pick. Kaplan and the Titans host Stanford beginning tonight in a best-of-three Super Regional, with the winner advancing to the College World Series in Omaha.
