Boys’ basketball: It’s Taft vs. Taft, Sylmar vs. Sylmar

The semifinals of the War on the Floor tournament tonight at Taft might have some shaking their heads in bemusement.

At 6 p.m., it’s Taft taking on Taft. Oops, Taft is taking on Reseda, which could start as many as four ex-Taft players in its starting lineup. Some are calling Reseda by a new name _ Taft East.

The other semifinal at 7 p.m. has Sylmar facing Van Nuys. And that’s another interesting matchup. Several ex-Sylmar players are playing for Van Nuys.

Talk about loyalties being tested. There should be a Last Comic Standing contest afterward for those who can come up with the favorite one-liners for these matchups.
