We still don’t know who’ll get the starting QB job over at Oaks Christian this fall, but it appears college recruiters are already lining up for first dibs on Nick Montana, pictured.

According to Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell, Stanford will likely offer a scholarship to the son of NFL Hall of Famer Joe Montana in September when juniors can start receiving recruiting fan mail.

Nick Montana is considered among the region’s best junior QBs and it’ll be interesting to see how the Concord De La Salle transfer figures into Oaks Christian’s quest to win an unprecedented sixth consecutive Southern Section divisional title.

‘He looks like his dad when he throws,’ Redell said. ‘It’s a little spooky.’

Redell said he would probably know in two weeks if his starter will be either Montana or St. Bonaventure transfer Tony Macarena.

I have no idea if Montana is thinking about Stanford, but I’m pretty sure folks up in the Bay Area wouldn’t mind having another Montana to root for.

Of course, Montana’s older brother, Nate, is a preferred walk-on at Notre Dame this year and Charlie Weis has a knack for making plenty of Southland road trips in December and January. There’s no time like the present to figure out who’s going to be under center once the Dayne Crist era closes.
