Football: Elway plans to give Mira Costa a pep talk

Mira Costa had its fair share of struggles last season, but at least it’ll have John Elway in its corner this fall.

Elway, the NFL Hall of Famer straight out of Granada Hills, will give the Mustangs a pep talk before their season opener against Loyola on Sept. 5.

Elway’s local business, Manhattan Beach Toyota, is sponsoring Mira Costa and it appears the Super Bowl XXXIII MVP wants to build a presence in the posh, seaside community that already has a sizable contingent of sport stars.

Of course, maybe Elway should think about opening up a dealership in the Valley near his old stomping grounds. I’m sure the Highlanders wouldn’t mind some motivational words and sponsorship dollars coming their way.
