Boys’ basketball: Is Lamb headed to Mater Dei?

The public-private school feuding could be headed to another level if highly touted Tyler Lamb of Ontario Colony ends up transferring to Mater Dei.

Frank Burlison of the Long Beach Press Telegram reported this week that Lamb, a 6-foot-4 junior who has committed to UCLA, is expected to enroll at Mater Dei.

Lamb declined comment Wednesday night other than saying, ‘We’ll see what happens. We’re in the process.’

That would fill a big need for the Monarchs if he ends up transferring and add to the unease among those questioning how public schools are supposed to keep pace with the transfers to private schools. Stay tuned.
