Football: Here’s the first Matt Barkley post of the day

I realize this blog could turn into a Matt Barkley love-fest later this evening, but I figured I’d let you know that USA Today devoted Wednesday’s sports section cover story to the Mater Dei wunderkind.

You’ll definitely want to give it a read -- especially if you’re one of those die-hard Mater Dei or USC types. If your favorite team has been or likely will be torched by Barkley’s golden arm, then you’ll probably enjoy the part about how he has a 3.9 grade-point average and is heavily involved through his church.

Oh, and in case you’ve blitzed your mind after watching ‘90210’ last night, Mater Dei plays Carson at 6 p.m. tonight on ESPN2.
