Football: Redell named a head coach for Army All-American Bowl

Oaks Christian Coach Bill Redell has been named head coach of the West team for the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Redell, a College Football Hall of Fame member, has led Oaks Christian to six Southern Section division titles and seven straight playoff appearances. The Lions this fall are bidding to win another Northwest Division championship and reach a state bowl game for the second time in three years.

Redell has compiled a 198-59 career record as a prep football coach and was recently inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is considered one of the nation’s top all-star games, featuring many of the top collegiate recruits in the country. The game will be televised live by NBC on Jan. 3, with kickoff scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific time.
