Football: Taft’s Morgan commits to USC

Just weeks after becoming eligible to receive formal offers, Taft junior running back D.J. Morgan has orally committed to USC, according to Taft Coach Matt Kerstetter.

‘It’s really where he wanted to go ever since he was kid,’ Kerstetter said. ‘It’s always been a dream of his to play for USC and we’re really happy him.’

Morgan is considered one of the top running backs in Southern California after rushing for more than 1,185 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore. He is also the defending City Section champion in the 100- and 300-meters and the 110-meter hurdles.

The Trojans aren’t the only ones who’ve had Morgan on their recruiting radar. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound speed demon also received offers from Florida and Stanford.
