Servite botched an extra-point attempt and missed a 57-yard field goal attempt as time expired as Crespi, ranked No. 4 by The Times, held on to a 21-20 nonleague victory over the visiting No. 6 Friars on Friday night.

Crespi took a 21-14 lead with a 50-yard touchdown pass from QB Bryan Bennett to WR Mikio Island, but Servite closed to within a point when Willie Mathews scored on a one-yard run. However, kicker Nicholas Echeverry missed out on an extra-point attempt due to a bad snap on the play.

SMU-bound kicker Michael Loftus tried to hit a 57-yard field goal with less than a second left in the game, but his kick was just a few yards short.

Bennett completed 11 of 21 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns. WR Kevin Cummings scored the Celts first TD on a 31-yard interception return and also had a 65-yard TD catch.

Servite QB Cody Fajardo connected on 20 of 29 passes for 172 yards and a TD. His teammate, Greg Portis, rushed for 190 yards.
