There’s 6:03 left in the first quarter of the game between Mater Dei and Corona Centennial, and the touchdowns are coming faster than it takes to get a hot dog at the concession stand.

It was all tied up at 14-14 after Victor Blackwell returned a kickoff 49 yards, and the Monarchs needed just two plays to score, with Jordan Allen running nine yards for a touchdown.

Then Centennial’s Ricky Marvray returned the ensuing kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown. Centennial missed the extra point, so it’s 20-14 in favor of the Huskies. Is it too early to speculate on a state scoring record?
