Football: De La Salle-Loyola ready to get started

After the impressive performance by Corona Centennial Friday night against Mater Dei, the pressure will be on Concord De La Salle tonight when it plays Loyola at Glendale High.

De La Salle is considered the No. 1 team in the state, but Centennial’s offensive outburst in a 47-35 victory over Mater Dei will cause many to give the Huskies consideration as the best in the state.

Now it’s up to De La Salle to show what it can do. Loyola (2-0) seems improved over last season, when it lost to De La Salle, 55-14, in the Bay Area.

Coach Bob Ladouceur of De La Salle knows that running back Anthony Barr is the player his team must stop.

‘He’s very smooth,’ Ladouceur said.
