With Hart Coach Mike Herrington deciding to end the Hart-Loyola series because of what he called advantages by private schools over public schools, Loyola Coach Jeff Kearin had a response.

‘At Loyola, we work hard to do it right,’ Kearin said, ‘and for him to make this sweeping judgment about all Catholic schools is unfair.’

Herrington said he agrees Loyola ‘does it right,’ but he’ sticking by his belief that private schools have too much of an advantage over public schools.

‘They can have kids from all over Southern California,’ Herrington said. ‘They have no district boundaries.’

I can’t wait to see if Hart plays St. Bonaventure in the Northern Division playoffs. That would provoke some interesting private vs. public school debate points.
