Los Alamitos wore them in Thursday’s victory over Marina and players for Tesoro are expected to wear them for tonight’s sold-out game against Mission Viejo.

The unusual fashion statement? Pink gloves.

In a move to help bring attention to the fact that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Los Alamitos and Tesoro are two Southland schools that received donated gloves from Cutters, which produces high-performance football accessories.

Prior to Los Alamitos’ 42-6 victory over Marina at Cerritos Gahr, money was collected at the entrances as part of the Griffins’ involvement in breast cancer awareness and research.

‘The response was overwhelming,’ said Laura Beraznik, Cutters co-founder and brand manager. ‘Our goal is to create thousands of pink glove impressions on youth and high school football fields across the country in October. We believe the unusual sight of pink gloves on the football field will generate additional interest in National Breast Cancer Awareness and hopefully motivate others to get involved.’

In addition to the donation of pink football gloves, Cutters will also make a financial contribution to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
