Rudy Lugo, a beloved teacher and former football and wrestling coach at Canoga Park, died Tuesday at his home in the San Fernando Valley. He was 60.

For more than four decades, Lugo was a fixture at Canoga Park, where he graduated in 1965 and returned as a coach and teacher in the early 1970s. He took over as varsity football coach in 1986 until he had to give up the position after the 2006 season because of lung cancer.
