Jordan Adamczyk couldn’t have been pleased with Canyon’s 49-29 loss to Valencia last week in the Foothill League opener for both schools. But the 6-foot-1 senior quarterback hasn’t had much time to dwell on the setback, not with a showdown against Hart looming on Friday.

Over the past couple days, his sole focus has been on the Indians, and with good reason considering the Cowboys can’t afford to slip up again. Falling behind by two games in the standings at this juncture of the season would make the chances of winning a league title seemingly impossible.

And no one understands this better than Adamczyk, who deserves some credit for playing well in six games thus far. He‘s completed 61 percent of his passes for 1,536 yards and 15 touchdowns, with just four interceptions. He’s also thrown for more than 300 yards in three straight games.

Individual statistics, however, don’t mean much in the game of football, a team sport, if there ever was one. Adamczyk must somehow, someway, figure out a way to help turn things around immediately. All the pressure rests on his shoulder pads, therefore, it will be interesting to see if he delivers.
