Discussions have begun in the Catholic Athletic Assn. to form new leagues for the 2010-11 school year, and one proposal could be changing the Serra League from a four-team league to five teams, possibly adding Alemany or St. Paul to Crespi, Notre Dame, Bishop Amat and Loyola.
Alemany doesn’t want to become a Pac-5 team at the moment, but the Warriors might not have any choice. Their football team beat Loyola last week and could win a Southern Section title this season.
A five-team league would result in three teams automatically qualifying for the playoffs. This season, only two teams qualify from the Serra League.
