It’s halftime, and Taft holds a 7-6 lead over Birmingham. This game was supposed to be an offensive slugfest. Instead, Birmingham’s offense has pretty much been inept except for a 70-yard drive at the end of the second quarter.

The Patriots are playing with fire because Taft running back D.J. Morgan has come close to breaking several runs and has been effective enough to rush for 67 yards in 11 carries.

This game could be decided by how well Birmingham Coach Ed Croson is able to make adjustments. Quarterback Morey Croson has completed two of seven passes for 31 yards and fumbled twice.
