For all those people who wanted to give up on Birmingham, Venice and L.A. Jordan when they were struggling early in the season against quality opponents, guess who’s made it to the quarterfinals of the City Championship Division playoffs?

Venice, 0-5 to start the season, gets to play San Pedro. Birmingham, 0-4 to start the season, faces Narbonne. And Jordan, 1-3 to start the season, plays Crenshaw.

Birmingham could have the most trouble because standout receiver De’Von Flournoy might have to miss Wednesday’s quarterfinal game. He suffered a painful shoulder bruise Thursday night, and it’s going to take some effective rehab to get him back on short notice.

Venice is loaded with improving underclassmen, but San Pedro certainly will be the favorite. Jordan is going to have to come up with a strong defensive performance to beat Crenshaw. The other quarterfinal has Taft playing San Fernando.
