Halftime: Palmdale 14, Mira Costa 13

Down 7-0, Palmdale got on the scoreboard thanks to a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brandon Mims to Joshua Shaw with 10:21 left in the second quarter. But Marvin Cerda’s extra-point attempt was blocked and the Falcons trailed, 7-6.

After a Mustang fumble, Mum’s 9-yard touchdown run put Palmdale up 12-7 with 6:01 remaining. He found Shaw in the end zone for the 2-point conversion, making it 14-7.

Mira Costa answered with an 8-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a 1-yard touchdown run from quarterback Kyle Demarco at the 2:15 mark. The Mustangs trailed, 14-13, after Brandon Sofen’s extra-point attempt went wide right. As it went on their next drive for Mira Costa’s Alex Norocea on a 47-yard field goal attempt as time expired.

Mustangs senior running back Chris Loatman played in the second quarter. He has three carries for 59 yards.
