In a game between No. 2 Westchester and No. 5 Etiwanda, it was the smallest player on the court, 5-foot-10 point guard Dominique O’Connor who delivered a 50-45 victory to the Comets (8-0) in the semifinals of the Ocean View tournament.

O’Connor scored 25 points and made a critical jump shot with 1:29 left after Etiwanda (6-1) had closed to 43-41.

Etiwanda made another bid, cutting its deficit to 47-45 with 16 seconds left on a three-point play by Jordan Finn. Jordan Mayes made one of two free throws with 15 seconds left, but Etiwanda lost the ball on a turnover, and O’Connor converted two more free throws.

Westchester advances to Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. final against the winner of Friday’s Leuzinger-Ocean View game.
