A year ago, Santa Clarita Golden Valley went 0-10 in the Foothill League. This season, Golden Valley could go 10-0 based on how well the team has been playing.

Golden Valley is off to a 5-0 start, with a victory over Simi Valley in the championship game of the Simi Valley tournament and a come-from-behind victory over Alta Loma Tuesday night in which the Grizzlies rallied from an 11-point deficit in the final minute.

Coach Chris Printz, an ex-Simi Valley player, has been in charge of the program since its inception five years ago. The team has three potential college prospects in 6-6 junior Trevor Wiseman, the cousin of New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel, and senior guards Steve Thornton and Maverick Ahanmisi, who scored 31 points against Alta Loma.

Golden Valley will be favored to win the San Fernando Valley Invitational that begins on Thursday.
