The Mustangs are so close now they can taste it.

Twelve minutes remain in tonight’s City Invitational football final at East Los Angeles College and Arleta is one quarter away from completing a perfect season.

The top-seeded Mustangs have moved out to a 22-8 lead over third-seeded Franklin courtesy of a one-yard plunge by Omar Sanchez for the only score of the third quarter.

Bryan Choto threw incomplete on fourth down inside the Panthers’ 30 on Arleta’s first possession of the half--the first time in four chances the Mustangs have failed to convert on fourth down.

The Panthers, however, couldn’t capitalize. After driving inside Arleta’s 40-yard line Franklin fumbled and the Mustangs recovered.
