Two touchdowns in the final five minutes of the second quarter pushed Arleta back ahead of Franklin, 15-8, and that’s the score at halftime of tonight’s City Invitational final at East Los Angeles College.

First, Omar Sanchez capped a 13-play, 66-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run to give the top-seeded Mustangs a 9-8 lead, but he was stopped short on the subsequent two-point conversion run.

After the Panthers went three and out, Arleta took to the air. On fourth and 17, quarterback Bryan Choto pump-faked then spiraled a 42-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Adrian Sandoval, who caught the ball near the 10 and trotted into the end zone. Sanchez slipped and his knee touched the turf two feet short of the goal line on the two-point try.

Check back in a few minutes for halftime stats.
