Melvin Richardson ran 21 yards for a touchdown with 4:36 left in the third quarter to enable Long Beach Poly to tie Tesoro, 7-7, in the Pac-5 Division championship game.

Throughout the playoffs, Poly has stuggled in the first half, only to turn it on in the third and fourth quarter. The Jackrabbits’ offense showed signs of life, entering Tesoro territory for only the second time in the game with their opening possession of the third quarter. Quarterback Morgan Fennell had a 14-yard run to pick up a key first down. Cory Westbrook added an 11-yard run.

Poly’s speed advantage finally showed even though Tesoro linebacker Jake Warden continues to find ways around Poly’s blockers to disrupt the running backs.
