Boys’ basketball: Extravaganzas galore Saturday

It’s the extravaganza season, and events will take place this Saturday throughout the Southland.

• The MLK Hoops Shootout at Los Angeles CES has eight games on tap, featuring three teams in The Times’ Top 25. The top matchups are the two late games, as No. 18 Gardena Serra takes on North Las Vegas Cheyenne, Nevada’s top-ranked team, at 7 p.m., and No. 16 Pacific Hills faces No. 19 Windward at 8:30 p.m.

• Campbell Hall, ranked 11th by The Times, will face Gahr (6 p.m.) in the penultimate game of six of the MLK Invitational at Century High.

• The To the Rack Showcase at Pierce College has four games scheduled, including third-ranked Taft against Compton in the 8 p.m. finale.

Farther south, a pair of Southern Section teams will take part in the Southern California Coaches Classic at Carlsbad High.
