If Sylmar wants to become the No. 4 seed for the upcoming City Section Division I playoffs, it’s going to have to defeat teams it’s supposed to beat, and losing, 83-80, in overtime to Cleveland on Saturday night in the War on the Floor event at Santa Monica City College doesn’t help the Spartans.

Prince Obasi scored 38 points for Cleveland. UCLA-bound Tyler Honeycutt had 34 points and 18 rebounds for Sylmar, which plays an important Valley Mission League game Wednesday at Reseda.

The No. 4 seed is wide open at the moment. The top three seeds will likely be from among Westchester, Fairfax and Taft. But No. 4 is undecided, with Crenshaw, Sylmar, Fremont, Cleveland and lots of others in the running.
