Girls’ Basketball: Cajon is on at halftime

San Bernardino Cajon is pulling away from Long Beach Poly, turning a two-point lead with under two minutes left in the first quarter into a 30-19 advantage at halftime tonight in the girls Southern Section Division I-AA championship game at Santa Ana Mater Dei High.

Second-seeded Cajon went on a 14-4 run in the fourth quarter to gain the lead. Senior guard Layshia Clarendon, who will play at California next season, scored the first six baskets of the game, a half-court buzzer-beater at the end of the first quarter, and has 19 points for the Cowgirls.

Junior forward Ta’Nitra Byrd has 14 points for Long Beach Poly.
