The radar guns were aimed and the scouts were out en force for Friday’s baseball game between Simi Valley Royal and Santa Monica. On the mound were Royal’s hard-throwing Bryan Berglund and Santa Monica’s Tyler Skaggs.

Berglund struck out eight in six innings of Royal’s 4-2 victory. Skaggs struck out 12 in five innings. Royal improved to 4-0 and is playing Burbank today in a final game of the Southern California Invitational. The other unbeaten team in the tournament, Marmonte League rival Newbury Park, is playing Santa Monica.
