In the City Section, which lacks big-time pitchers this season, San Fernando (4-2) is showing early signs of pitching success.

Last week, a freshman, Kevin Martinez, threw a five-hit shutout of Palisades, the Western League title favorite. And sophomore Jose Reyes struck out 10 with no walks in eight innings in a 1-0 loss to South East.

Kennedy was considered the favorite in the Valley Mission League, but the Tigers’ young, promising pitchers could change that.
