Boys’ basketball: Westchester holds 15-point lead

SACRAMENTO _ Westchester is eight minutes away from bringing home its fifth state Division I championship. The Comets lead Oakland McClymonds, 36-21, after three quarters at Arco Arena.

McClymonds offered a brief challenge at the outset of the third quarter after trailing, 24-11, at halftime. The Warriors outscored Westchester, 8-2, by being more aggressive. But Westchester regained control, with Jordin Mayes contributing three baskets. Kareem Jamar made a three-pointer from the baseline at the buzzer.
