Baseball: Mater Dei can take control of Trinity League race

Santa Ana Mater Dei is 11-1 overall and 4-1 in the Trinity League, but the Monarchs face co-league leader JSerra in games on Monday night at Serra and Wednesday night at Mater Dei.

Aaron Northcraft came through Saturday night, allowing two hits in six innings of Mater Dei’s 10-1 victory over Orange Lutheran.

Derek Campbell hit a three-run home run.

But Mater Dei hardly has time to relax after this week. The Monarchs start play in the Anderson Bat National Classic on April 13, facing four games in four days.

Don’t feel sorry for Coach Burt Call. He has 11 pitchers to choose from.
