Football: Compton to open season in Utah

Compton, continuing to upgrade its program under Coach Calvin Bryant, will open the 2009 football season in Provo, Utah, playing in the Utah vs. The Nation high school football classic. The team will play Highland (Utah) Lone Peak High.

Compton returns one of the top running backs in the Southland in James McConico, who already has nine scholarship offers, including Washington, Arizona and Nebraska.
