Baseball: It’s status quo in West Valley League

Chatsworth, Reseda Cleveland and Woodland Hills El Camino Real continued their domination of the West Valley League, with each team easily winning Wednesday.
Chatsworth (22-2, 8-1) stayed tied for first place with Cleveland (18-5, 8-1) by routing Woodland Hills Taft, 15-1, in a five-inning mercy-rule game. Derek Neely hit a grand slam and Andy Weissberg had three hits and five RBIs, including a home run, giving him four home runs in his last four games in which he is eight for 14 with 11 RBIs.
Cleveland defeated Lake Balboa Birmingham, 11-1, in a five-inning mercy-rule game. G. Allen went three for three and Robert Almendarez, Spencer Horowitz and Nick Kaid each had two hits. David Carver picked up the pitching victory.
El Camino Real defeated Granada Hills, 11-3, behind Michael Booth, who hit a home run and threw a complete game. Alex DeLeon also homered for the Conquistadores (17-7, 5-4).
