Lots of Calabasas parents have been voicing displeasure at the school being removed from the Marmonte League in all sports in favor of Westlake Village Oaks Christian under a recommendation made by the Southern Section committee in charge of appeals.

But facts don’t lie: Calabasas hasn’t been competitive in league play with the exception of boys’ and girls’ tennis and boys’ basketball.

Statistics compiled by the league over the last five years indicate the Coyotes have a combined league record of 280-813-12. That means the winless football team isn’t the only problem facing the Coyotes.

Going to the Tri-Valley League will allow the sports teams to regroup and perhaps return to the Marmonte League in four years. Yes, there could be more travel, but from a competitive equity situation, the decision had to be made.
