Baseball: St. Francis beats Notre Dame in 11 innings, 1-0

La Canada St. Francis helped its Southern Section Division II playoff chances with a 1-0, 11-inning victory over Mission League leader Sherman Oaks Notre Dame Friday at Notre Dame.

St. Francis scored the only run in the 11th when Nick Gentili drew a two-out walk, moved to second on a passed ball and scored on an error.

Matt Lathuras of Notre Dame threw eight shutout innings. Chris Sember of St. Francis threw 7 1/3 innings of shutout ball.

Notre Dame (20-5, 8-2) remains one game ahead of Encino Crespi. St. Francis improved to 16-12 and 6-6.
