Get ready for a wild, unpredictable final week ahead in the Sunset League, where Huntington Beach Edison and Huntington Beach Marina are in a tie for first place and set to face strong opposition.

Edison (17-5, 10-3) might have thought it blew the league title earlier in the week by losing to Newport Harbor. But then Marina (20-4, 10-3) lost Friday to Los Alamitos and Beau Wright, 2-1, with Kenny Uyetake of Los Alamitos going three for three.

So the final week of the regular season is ahead, and it’s about surviving. Marina will be at home Tuesday against Esperanza (12-11-1, 7-6) and at Esperanza on Thursday. Esperanza still hasn’t secured a playoff spot.

Edison is at home Tuesday against Los Alamitos and then at Los Alamitos on Thursday, when it will probably have to face Wright, who has signed with UC Irvine and is one of the top pitchers in the Southland.

This is going to be a playoff-like week for all the top teams in the Sunset League.
