Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, seeded No. 3 in the Southern Section Division II playoffs, received six shutout innings from Josh Goossen Brown (10-3) and a two-run home run from Nick LaFace to defeat Rialto, 8-0, in a first-round playoff game Thursday.
Kelly Dugan added a pair of doubles for the Knights (23-5), who also got two hits from Ranny Lowe.
