Venice senior Andi Murez won the girls’ varsity 200-yard freestyle by a full pool length at the City Section Swim Championships, breaking the finals record by over three seconds Wednesday at John C. Argue Swim Stadium in Los Angeles.

Murez, who set the City backstroke record of 57.48 at last year’s finals, swam the 200 in 1:46.82 to shatter the previous mark of 1:49.95 set by Cleveland’s Amy Jones in 1999. Samantha Elam of Granada Hills was second in 1:59.80--almost 13 seconds behind.
